What is e-fulfillment?
E-fulfillment refers to the logistical processes involved in e-commerce. When a customer buys a particular product online, it usually has a long way to go. The goods are removed from storage, packed, transported and delivered to the recipient.
Most online retailers have no logistics experience and prefer to focus on their core business. They then work with specialized e-fulfillment service providers who take care of the logistics.
E-fulfillment includes these processes:
E-fulfillment covers all logistics processes relating to online retail, such as:
- Order picking
- Shipping
- Packaging
- Franking
However, they often cover more than just the usual warehouse activities. These include, for example, value-added services such as returns processing, repairs to goods or the reordering of goods that are running low.
Yet, there are also things that are not part of e-fulfillment. This primarily includes the administration of the online stores and the distribution of the goods sold.
