High-bay warehouse

What is a high-bay warehouse?

A high-bay warehouse (HBW ) is used to store goods. Its high racks start at a height of 12 meters and can reach a maximum height of approx. 50 meters. An HBW is mostly made of steel structures and very rarely of wood.

Advantages of a high-bay warehouse:

  • High capacity at several hundred thousand pallet spaces
  • High space utilization
  • Fully electronic and can be operated with a warehouse management system
  • Flat goods and long goods can be stored

The shelves are arranged in such a way that there is always an aisle between two high shelves. This allows storage and retrieval machines (SRMs) to move in these aisles and coordinate the goods.
