Information flow in logistics
The entirety of all data and information that is created and collected in a company is called information flow. This also includes all internal points of contact in communication from start to finish - i.e. from the sender to the final recipient.
The flow of information is part of information logistics and should ideally be uninterrupted. If the flow of information slows down or is even disrupted, communication can be impaired - both between people and between machines.
How can the flow of information be optimized?
In order to minimize all risks associated with a disrupted information flow, one of the main tasks of information logistics is to optimize it. This can be attempted by doing a few things:
- Prescribe and establish certain communication channels
- Use of project management tools
- Introduction of documentation platforms
- Staff meetings
- Creating an internal newsletter
If a company has an unreliable flow of information, this can limit its profitability.
