IPCs in continuous use - computers in industry
Both in industry and in other sectors such as logistics, many computers are often running at full speed and in continuous use. The reason for this is that warehouses and production facilities are usually in operation around the clock - and the computers and systems used are of course an essential prerequisite.
Particularly in logistics and industry, such computers must be able to withstand many external environmental influences. These include, for example:
- Shock
- Vibrations
- Impacts
- Moisture
- Dust
- Cold and heat
As ordinary computers usually go on the fritz quickly under such circumstances, special IPCs are used in these areas - so-called industrial PCs.
Equipped for continuous use: IPCs
Most IPCs are equipped with special components in both the hardware and software in order to function in continuous operation. These are designed to increase the service life of the machines. These include, for example, shatterproof housings and touchscreens as control elements.
