What is a master SSCC?
A master SSCC is a shipping label that combines several SSCCs (shipping unit number). It is therefore a higher-level shipping label. It simplifies the handling of several identical shipping containers.
The master SSCC provides information about its subordinate SSCCs, but not about their content.
Where are Master SSCCs used in logistics?
Master SSCCs are primarily used in warehouse logistics to mark stored pallets and packing units, which in turn contain several partial packages with SSCCs.
Example:
A sandwich pallet was packed in three layers with three different goods. Each of the loaded partial pallets has its own SSCC sticker to identify the pallet. The entire sandwich pallet was also marked with the master SSCC sticker.
If the pallet is now moved, for example for storage or handling, only the master SSCC label is scanned.
