Overstocking

Overstocking: help in acute shortage situations

Regardless of whether this is due to a spontaneous increase in demand, a reduction in own storage capacity or a lack of customers: There are many situations in which companies are reliant on additional storage space. In this case, the term "overstocking" is used, i.e. an expansion of storage capacity by a third party - especially on a temporary or short-term basis.

Overstocking helps the retailer or producer to solve short-term problems. This process, also known as intermediate storage, is primarily used to delay processes, for example when the handling of goods is ongoing and capacity is blocked or further processing of raw materials is possible without storage.
