What is load securing?
Load securing is used in logistics to secure goods and raw materials for transportation. Load securing equipment is used to prevent the load from moving during transportation.
During transportation, various things can trigger physical moving forces that can have an impact on the load. This includes, for example:
- Accelerate
- Brakes
- Driving through bends
If the load is not properly secured, the load may shift, which can impair safe transportation.
What types of load securing are there?
When securing loads, a distinction is made between form-fit and force-fit securing:
- With form-fit load securing, the load is stowed against the sides of the cargo space to prevent movement.
- Various load securing devices are used for friction-locked load securing to prevent the goods from shifting. These include, for example, tension chains, spindle tensioners or tension belts. These are placed over the load in the truck and then fastened and tightened to the load compartment.
