What is a mobile printer?
Mobile printers are small, portable devices that are used in conjunction with mobile scanners to print labels or receipts. They usually use the thermal printing method. These printing processes are based on the effect of heat. To print, the label (or the respective medium) is moved past a thermal print head.
As a rule, mobile printers communicate via Wi-Fi, NFC or Bluetooth and can therefore establish fast, secure and reliable wireless connections.
In which areas of logistics are mobile printers used?
- Intralogistics / warehouse: In logistics, mobile printers are mainly used to print labels. Warehouse employees carry the printers with them on a shoulder strap and can generate the required labels - in many cases barcodes - as required and apply them immediately on site. This significantly speeds up processes in the warehouse. Employees shorten their walking distances considerably.
- Delivery: Another area of application for mobile printers in logistics is truck cabs. There, the devices are used to print receipts or delivery bills - for example in heating oil logistics. At the end of the refueling process, the customer receives a printout with the actual amount of fuel.
